Your book is finished. Now let’s get it found.

Spine & Reel cuts trailers, reels and ads from your book’s own lines, builds an author website that Google and AI assistants can find, and sets up the emails that carry your launch. One of us works with you from the first call, through launch, and after it.

Watch the reels

Run by Prylo, for self-published and small-press authors. You see a working preview before you pay.

Nobody knows your book exists yet.

Readers find books on the feed now, and the feed wants video, ads, a site to land on and emails that go out on time. That’s four jobs on top of writing.

  • You wrote a book, not a content plan.

Posting every day, cutting video, writing ad copy: it’s a second job, and not the one you trained for.

  • Readers are scrolling, not browsing.

A cover thumbnail on a store page can’t say much. Fifteen seconds of the right line, on the feed, can.

  • Every tool is another evening gone.

A website, a mailing list, a welcome email, a release-day reminder, a posting schedule. Each one has its own login.

Chapter I.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.

However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighbourhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters.

Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen (1813)
From the page to the feed: the first line of Pride and Prejudice, set as the opening of a vertical reel.

Reels and ads we make

We made these to show how we work: three classics cut from licensed footage and music, and two sample novels of ours, illustrated. Each puts the book’s own words on screen; tap the speaker to hear one.

Try it with a line from your book

Paste one or two sentences you love. Each sentence becomes its own shot, the way we’d cut it, and the preview plays it back.

Replace the sample with your own words. Up to 160 characters.

Every plan includes these formats. The Monthly Plan also runs your ads, within the budget you set.

A person, not another app.

Design apps give you templates. We do the writing, cutting, posting and weekly follow-up with you.

The job With a design app With Spine & Reel
The reel Design app: You pick a template and fill it in. Spine & Reel: We choose the line with you and make the reel from your book.
Posting Design app: You post every day. Spine & Reel: We schedule it on your accounts, or hand you the files and a calendar.
What’s working Design app: You work it out on your own. Spine & Reel: We look every week, do more of what worked and tell you why.
Website and search Design app: A separate job, and being found is up to you. Spine & Reel: Built in, and set up for Google and for assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity. What that involves
Help Design app: A help centre and a ticket queue. Spine & Reel: One named person, with replies within one business day.
After launch Design app: When the template is done, so is the help. Spine & Reel: A monthly plan keeps going for as long as it’s helping. Stop any time.

A note like this, every week

Three reels and the first launch email.

The window reel. Readers saved and shared its quiet opening line more than the two action cuts, so the slower moments are what’s landing. A still from the window reel: a woman wiping frost from a station window at night

Two more reels from the same chapter, and the window reel tried as an ad within your budget.

An author website readers can land on

A home for you and the book: buy and pre-order links, a press kit, and an email signup, written in your voice. It’s yours to keep once it’s paid for.

Here is a sample we made for Seven Minutes of Daylight, a science fiction novel: the title and a pre-order button first, the opening chapter, a live clock counting down to the next sunrise on the book’s moon, the trailer, editions with prices, a letter from the author and a newsletter signup.

A one-page book site in the Book Launch, a full author site in the Monthly Plan, or $799 on its own with three launch emails.

Found on Google and in AI answers

Readers ask search engines and AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews what to read next. We build your site so both can read it and describe your book correctly: book and author details in the page code, fast pages, descriptions in the words readers search for, and the same facts on your site, Amazon and Goodreads.

Built into every website we make.

Emails that send on their own

The newsletter welcome sequence, sign-ups for early reader (ARC) copies, release-day reminders, and your videos scheduled to post on time. It’s set up once, then it runs.

Launch emails in the Book Launch and with the website on its own, and early-reader sign-ups in the Monthly Plan.

How it works, in four steps.

Your accounts are in your name from the start, and the website is yours once it’s paid for.

  1. Day 1

    1. Send the book and the cover.

The ebook or a PDF, your cover file and your launch date. That’s all we need to start reading.

  2. Within a business day

    2. Meet your contact.

We reply with a time for a 30-minute video call with the person you’ll work with: the book, the reader it’s for, and what already exists. The same person stays with you from then on.

  3. About a week

    3. See it before you pay.

We storyboard from your book’s own lines and send a working preview. The site and the emails are written in your voice. If it isn’t right, you owe nothing.

  4. Launch, and after

    4. Launch, with us alongside.

We post the videos or hand them to you, your choice, with weekly check-ins. After the six weeks, carry on with a monthly plan, or we walk you through running it yourself.

Fair questions.

What do you need from me?

A finished book, already out or about to launch, in most genres from romance and romantasy to thrillers, memoir and nonfiction. Send the book or manuscript, the lines you love, your cover and your store links, then join a 30-minute call. For scene videos, add a few words on how your characters look and sound. You don’t need to know video, ads or email tools: we build everything, post the videos for you if you like, and show you how to run it afterwards. We market books; we don’t publish them, so you keep your publisher and your rights.

How long does it take?

A scene video takes about a week, and a book trailer ten business days. The Book Launch runs for six weeks, and the monthly plans month by month. The dates start once we have the book, the cover and your answers from the call.

What if I don’t like it?

You see a working preview before you pay, and if it isn’t right, you owe nothing. After that, every video, website and email comes with two rounds of revisions. If you end the work partway, everything finished up to that day is yours.

Who owns the videos, the website and the music?

You do. Once they’re paid for, the finished videos are yours to use anywhere to promote your book. Every account is in your name from the start, and the website is yours on delivery with the Book Launch or on its own, or after the third month on the Monthly Plan. Footage and music are licensed for commercial use; the licence covers the video, not taking a track out to use on its own. If a platform ever flags the music, we clear the claim or swap the track at no cost to you.

Can I keep going after the six weeks?

Yes. You keep the website, the email list and every video, and you can carry on month by month: the Monthly Plan at $1,390, or the Lighter Monthly at $790 on a smaller budget. Neither has a minimum term, and you can stop after any month with nothing to pay for leaving. If you stop the Monthly Plan before the third month and want to keep the full website, it’s $399. If you’d rather run it all yourself, we walk you through everything first.

How are scene videos made?

We pick the scene with you and write a short script from your book’s own lines. You approve how your characters look and sound before we finish, so they stay the same from shot to shot and video to video. Then we make the shots, add the voices, music and captions, and cut it. When we post a video for you, we follow each platform’s rules on labelling how it was made.

Are the reels on this page client work?

No. We made them to show how we work. Three are for public-domain classics, cut from licensed stock footage and music, with each book’s real lines and covers we designed. The others are illustrated reels for two sample novels of ours: Seven Minutes of Daylight, the science fiction novel on our sample author website, and The Ninth Bride, a romantasy. Your videos are made the same way from your own book’s lines and cover.

Worth finishing. Worth finding.

Tell us about the book. Here’s what happens next:

  1. We reply within one business daywith a time for a call that suits you.
  2. A 30-minute video callwith the person you’ll work with, about the book and its readers.
  3. A working preview before you payIf it isn’t right, you owe nothing.
